“The Independent Phantom Club”, formerly known as “The Phantom Club” of Australia was founded by John Henderson in 1981 Coorparoo, Queensland; and sadly ended in 1995. During this 14+ year period the club was very active with its promotion of the Phantom on t.v, radio, newspapers and magazines. For 14 years the Club produced a plethora of collectibles including calandars, stickers, t-shirts, rings and more.

The first Phantom Fan Club advertisement appeared on the back cover of Australian Frew Phantom comic issue no736 in 1981, its last, no926 in 1989. For 9 years; 99 different style advertisements ran in 212 consecutive Phantom comic issues, advertising its wide range of collectibles and club membership information.

The Club published a total of 41 Fan Club newsletters titled “Jungle Beat”. Issue no1 thru no21 under the name “The Phantom Club”: issue no22 thru no41 under the name “Independent Phantom Club” of Australia

Through evidence found in Fan Club “Product Catalogs” such as items for sale, which were produced up to 1991,

The Independent Phantom Club”, was still active. We also find evidence in the last published newsletter no41 about the 1996 Movie. Club memberships were also still being issued until 1995, however it is likely that from 1991 thru 1995 as the Club began to wind down that they were operating in a limited capacity

Aside from Frew advertisements the Club also produced Club Member Newsletters and “Product Catalogs” advertising its wide range of available collectibles. The Club published 8 different “Product Catalogs with 4-8 pages in each, as well as several product order forms 11 Green, 3 Yellow, 5 Blue, 2 White & 1 Pink.

This rare 1989 factory laminated Fan Club Calandar was first advertised on the back cover of Australia Frew Phantom comic book issue No923 Feb, 1989. The image seen on this 30” x 24” poster size calendar is of the Club’s president “John Henerson”. This was sadly the very last calendar ever produced by the Club.
